SOA Applications communicate with Database using DB Adapter. When SOA composites are deployed in weblogic server, they require Outbound connection pool to communicate with Database. A JDBC Data Source with Database connection details should be associated to connection pool. JNDI Name used for creating connection pool should match the value entered for database connection when building application using JDeveloper.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Create JDBC Data Source:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Navigate to Services -> Data Sources<\/p>\n

\"SOA<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Click New button and select Generic Data Source to create a new JDBC Data Source as shown in above screen shot<\/p>\n

Enter following details:<\/p>\n

Data Source Name<\/em>:\u00a0 XEDB<\/p>\n

JNDI name to refer Data Source:<\/em> jdbc\/XEDB<\/p>\n

Database Type:<\/em> Oracle<\/p>\n

\"SOA<\/a><\/p>\n

Click Next and proceed further<\/p>\n

Select the type Database driver to use to connect to Database and click Next.<\/p>\n

\"SOA<\/a><\/p>\n

Enter Database login and host connection details on next screen<\/p>\n

i.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Database Name: <sid or service name of Database><\/p>\n

ii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Host name: <Database Host Name><\/p>\n

iii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Port: <Database port number><\/p>\n

iv.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Database user name<\/p>\n

v.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Password<\/p>\n

vi.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Confirm Password.<\/p>\n

Note: Some of these values can be obtained from tnsnames.ora file from Oracle client directory.<\/p>\n

Click Next to move on and<\/p>\n

Click Test Configuration button to validate the connection details provided.<\/p>\n

Connection details will be validated and successful message will be displayed as below.<\/p>\n

Click Finish button. JDBC Data Source with XEDB will be successfully created.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Create Outbound Connection Pool for DB Adapter:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

a.\u00a0 Click Deployments link in Domain Structure present in left hand side in console window.
\nb.\u00a0 In Summary of Deployments window, Select DBAdapter.
\nc.\u00a0 DBAdapter settings page will be displayed.<\/p>\n

\"SOA<\/a><\/p>\n

d. Click Configuration tab in DBAdapter setting and select Outbound Connection Pools tab to display list of Outbound connection pools.<\/p>\n

\"SOA<\/a><\/p>\n

e. Click New button to create Outbound Connection Pool.
\nf. In Create a New Outbound Connection window, select default connection group \u201cjavax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory\u201d and click Next button.<\/p>\n

\"SOA<\/a><\/p>\n

g. Enter JNDI Name, which will be used in JDeveloper to create Database server connection for DB Adapter.<\/p>\n

JNDI Name used should match the value entered for database connection when building application using JDeveloper.<\/p>\n

Convention followed for DB Adapter JNDI Name is \u201ceis\/DB\/XEDB\u201d, where, XEDB refers to my XE Database.<\/p>\n

Similarly for Apps Adapter, JNDI Name starts with \u201ceis\/Apps\/\u201d like eis\/Apps\/AppsDB.<\/p>\n

Click Finish.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 Configure JDBC data source with Outbound Connection pool:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

a. Select the newly created Outbound connection pool by selecting JNDI names from the list.<\/p>\n

\"SOA<\/a><\/p>\n

b. In the settings window, click Properties tab.
\nc. For property name \u201cxADataSourceName\u201d, update the property value with JDBC data source JNDI name which we created in section 1 i.e. \u201cjdbc\/XEDB\u201d and click save button.<\/p>\n

Note: To change property value, use ENTER key after entering value and click save button.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0 Update Deployment Plan:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

a. Go to main Deployments page, update DBAdapter by click Update button.
\nb. Select Redeploy this application and confirm the deployment plan location.
\nc. Click Finish button.<\/p>\n
