{"id":4147,"date":"2013-10-03T18:05:01","date_gmt":"2013-10-03T12:35:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/?p=4147"},"modified":"2014-07-31T00:06:18","modified_gmt":"2014-07-31T00:06:18","slug":"value-set-security-type","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/articles\/value-set-security-type","title":{"rendered":"Value Set: Security Type"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Enabling security on value sets helps us to restrict values on concurrent program parameters.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Business Scenario:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s say that we would like define Apple products with their codes in a independent value set which will be attached to a concurrent program as a parameter.<\/p>\n<p>100: iPod Product Family\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Note: This is not a product but a product family)<\/p>\n<p>101: iPod Classic<\/p>\n<p>102: iPod Nano<\/p>\n<p>200: iPhone Product Family\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Note: This is not a product but a product family)<\/p>\n<p>201: iPhone 5S<\/p>\n<p>202: iPhone 5C<\/p>\n<p>203: iPhone 4S<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Business Requirements:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>1. Hide Single product from Concurrent Program parameter list of values\u00a0 (Note: we will use Non-Hierarchical Security here)<\/p>\n<p>2. Hide complete Product Family from Concurrent Program parameter list of values\u00a0 (Note: we will use Hierarchical Security here)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start..<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Define Value Set:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Navigation: Application Developer &gt; Application &gt; Validation &gt; Sets<\/p>\n<p>Enter information as shown below. First we will see how Non-Hierarchical Security feature will work.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_value-set-security-type-1.png\" alt=\"4147_value set security type 1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter values for the above value set.<\/p>\n<p>Navigation: Application Developer &gt; Application &gt; Validation &gt; Values<\/p>\n<p>Enter Value set name and click Find button<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_value-set-security-type-2.png\" alt=\"4147_value set security type 2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter Products information as shown below<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_value-set-security-type-3.png\" alt=\"4147_value set security type 3\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Save it. click on &#8220;Values, Hierarchy, Qualifiers&#8221; tab<\/p>\n<p>Select 100 (iPod Family)\u00a0 and\u00a0 200 (iPhone Family) as Parents.<\/p>\n<p>Enter Level information as shown below. Here we are defining two levels of data. Level 1 is Product Family and Level 2 is Products.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_value-set-security-type-4.png\" alt=\"4147_value set security type 4\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Save it.<\/p>\n<p>Ensure 100 (iPod Family) record is selected and then Click on &#8220;Define Child Ranges&#8221; button<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_value-set-security-type-5.png\" alt=\"4147_value set security type 5\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter iPod products range here.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_value-set-security-type-6.png\" alt=\"4147_value set security type 6\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Save it. Close Child Ranges Window.<\/p>\n<p>Select 200 (iPhone Family) and Go to Child Ranges again as shown below<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_value-set-security-type-7.png\" alt=\"4147_value set security type 7\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter iPhone products range here and Save it.<\/p>\n<p>Hmm. We are done with defining Value set and it&#8217;s values.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Define Security Rules:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Here, we will define security rules for the value set we have created.<\/p>\n<p>Navigation: System Administrator &gt; Security &gt; Responsibility &gt; Value Set &gt; Define<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_sec-rule-1.png\" alt=\"4147_sec rule 1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter our value set name and click Find button to move on to next screen<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_sec-rule-2.png\" alt=\"4147_sec rule 2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Create a Security Rule as &#8220;iPhone 5S sold out&#8221; as shown below.<\/p>\n<p>In &#8220;Security Rule Elements&#8221; Add a record of type &#8220;Include&#8221; and leave it blank. When we leave the From and To values blank it will include ALL values available in value set.<\/p>\n<p>Add section row with type &#8220;Exclude&#8221; and enter iPhone 5S product code.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_sec-rule-3.png\" alt=\"4147_sec rule 3\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Save it. Click Assign button to link this rule with certain responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>Link this rule to &#8220;System Administrator&#8221; responsibility as shown below.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_sec-rule-4.png\" alt=\"4147_sec rule 4\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Save it. Otherwise our security rules will not applied.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_Conc-Prog-Parameter.png\" alt=\"4147_Conc Prog Parameter\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Add concurrent program to a request group.<\/p>\n<p>Navigation: System Administrator &gt; Security &gt; Responsibility &gt; Request<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_conc-prog-req-grp.png\" alt=\"4147_conc prog req grp\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Go to Submit Request screen and pull up our concurrent program<\/p>\n<p>You can observe that iPhone 52 (202) is missing in the list of values. That is because of our security rule.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s working. :)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_conc-prog-subm-1.png\" alt=\"4147_conc prog subm 1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s add one more security rule to test &#8220;Hierarchical Security&#8221; type.<\/p>\n<p>Navigation: System Administrator &gt; Security &gt; Responsibility &gt; Value Set &gt; Define<\/p>\n<p>Add new Rule &#8220;All iPods&#8221;. Now we would like to exlude all iPod products from the list.<\/p>\n<p>Add one &#8220;Include&#8221; record with blanks and one &#8220;Exclude&#8221; record with 100 (iPod Family) in Security Rule Elements<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_sec-rule-5.png\" alt=\"4147_sec rule 5\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click Assign button and add this rule to a Responsibility as shown below.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_sec-rule-6.png\" alt=\"4147_sec rule 6\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We are not done yet but let&#8217;s go and check how our concurrent program parameter will behave.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_conc-prog-subm-2.png\" alt=\"4147_conc prog subm 2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the above screen shot you can observe that only one record 100 (iPod Family) is missing but it still includes 102 and 103 which are iPod products.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, initially we set security type on our value set to &#8220;Non-Hierarchical Security&#8221; ?<\/p>\n<p>Now change it to &#8220;Hierarchical Security&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Navigation: Application Developer &gt; Application &gt; Validation &gt; Sets<\/p>\n<p>Query our value set and change security type as shown below.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_value-set-security-type-8.png\" alt=\"4147_value set security type 8\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it.<\/p>\n<p>Go to Submit Request screen and see how List of values will appear.<\/p>\n<p>All iPods products are gone.<\/p>\n<p>Here, We didn&#8217;t exclude each iPod product separately but instead we enable Hierarchical security and excluded parent itself there by removing child values also.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/erpschools.com\/erps\/wp-content\/uploads\/img\/4147_conc-prog-subm-3.png\" alt=\"4147_conc prog subm 1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Done.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you.
